Hard loss limit
Decide the max you'll lose today. When you hit it, you stop, no exceptions, no chasing.
Time limit
Set a timer (phone, kitchen, anywhere visible). When it rings, log out.
No chasing
Never deposit a second time in the same session to recover losses. The math says you can't beat the edge by spending more.
Win-walk threshold
When you're up by a pre-decided amount, withdraw at least half. Bank the win.
Cool-down
At least 24h between sessions if you lost. Often longer.

Self-exclusion and limit-setting
On-site deposit limits
Most licensed casinos let you set daily, weekly, or monthly deposit caps. Set these BEFORE your first session — they're harder to enable mid-streak.
Loss and wagering limits
If your casino offers them, set a daily loss limit and a maximum bet size. These are hard stops the casino enforces; you can't override them until the cool-down window expires.
Time-out and self-exclusion
Time-out: pause your account for 24h to 6 weeks. Self-exclusion: longer permanent or semi-permanent account closure. Once activated, most operators won't reverse it on request.
Site-blocking software
